Very good concept to combine the surrounding food offerings with the wonderful seating outside and the delicious drinks on offer. Thanks also to the nice service team! Reason enough for me to be a regular there.

Wonderful excellent service.

Cozy and good service. We sat outside and at no point were lost sight of. Someone came regularly and asked if we would like anything else. That's the way it has to be :)

This is where all the young people meet. Since there is never enough space for everyone, you sit down with strangers at the table. Often there are great conversations if that's what you want. The clue is that you can order food from the surrounding restaurants, the duck does not have its own kitchen. So there is everything from pizza to sushi and good wine spritzer.

Nice atmosphere and fast service, but derogatory comments if you are not a member of the newspaper duck's “exclusive” WhatsApp group. At some point that became too much for us and we were forced to leave the duck. Bye!

We were there on Saturday after a shopping spree - just great! A nice, non-alcoholic wheat and a wonderful city atmosphere.

Great to sit outside. Food is supplied by the surrounding restaurants. So there is something for everyone!

Quaint pub. Small but very cozy. Nice service. Whether you like it or not, you immediately have a conversation partner or in.

A great place to hangout with reasonable prices and central location. Smoking friendly, so beware if you're a non-smoker.

Would like to come here for a beer. Quaint pub and staff always brisk and friendly. Since the premises are rather small, it gets busy at peak times. But that's what makes the atmosphere for a soccer game ;-)

The absolutely great thing about the newspaper duck is that you can drink something here but also eat. The duck has menu from nearby restaurants attached and so everyone can feed what he / she is hungry for. Unique super great concept.

Really nice place to be at during summer. The outdoor seats were very comfortable. I was here for lunch and they have a huge menu because it actually is a pub that serves food from all the neighboring eateries. So there are different types of cuisines ranging from German to Lebanese and Korean to Turkish. It's impressive. There are about six restaurants combined if I remember correctly. The prices are typical eating-out prices but not expensive. The portions are gigantic! I had to wrap my food to takeaway. The waiter and waitress were very attentive and so super approachable and sweet. Lots of bike place to lock your bike.

The place to be, tres chic, busy too. Good conversations to be had and hard to leave. If in Mainz don't miss it.

Great outdoor area in a pedestrian zone, with a more unique approach to ordering food. The ? (Ente), as most locals call it by its short form, is a great place, especially in the warmer months of the year. (This review will mostly be about the outdoor area.) The Zeitungsente itself only offers drinks, but they have menu, from which you can order from the sourrounding restaurants. You can even order from any other restaurants or bring fiod yourself and eat it there. The waiter will oder for you, if you order something from "their" menu. Only real drawback in my eyes and the reason why the ? is not for me in the colder months; the indoor space is a smoking area. I am myself a smoker but after a while and especially if more and more people visit it, the air can get very stuffy. But as I mentioned earlier, I really like the outdoor area with the long benches, good drinks and a cool approach to providing food for you customers. In my opinion, if it's a bit warmer, or cold weather don't bother you, it's a really great place to visit and enjoy the ambience.

Pretty nice place for having a drink or watching a football game. You can order anything from restaurants nearby and the waiters will come over and serve you at the table. Just try it out, it's awesome!

Best format of the Restaurant I've ever visited! Absolutely cozy place at the nice district of the city. There is a lot of Cafes and restaurants around. And at this place you can only buy drinks (they haven't any food) and order any food from the restaurants around. It's an Italian restaurant, Sushi, Fish restaurant, Thai, Vietnam and even Kebab (Dönner). So you need to pay for your food to the waiter from restaurant (don't forget to give them a tips) and for a drinks you will pay layer for the waiter of Zeitungsente. Stuff are incredible nice. Dog friendly (your dog can also get a drink here).

On a hot day, it is the perfect location in downtown Mainz to have a beer and chill out. Charming atmosphere, tree-cover from the sun, and right next to the shopping district.

Great place, 100% good vibes

We were a young american army family and served with the Airborne at Lee Barracks. We lived in an apartment a little over a block away. We ate at this little restaurant twice a month, when I was not in the field, during the period 1966-1969 and the food was excellent! The reason for this review is we were looking through our scrap book and noticed the picture we took of our favorite restaurant in Mainz. Of course we did not have multimedia in those days (I was in my 20s now I'm in my 70s. We got to know the owners then and when we left they gave the wine bottle candle from the table we always sat at. It is still on our bucket list to get back there someday. Again, excellent food!
